Archibald Hunter came to Iłża's Fabryka Fajansu Sunderlanda (Sunderland's fine pottery factory) opened by Jewish English gentelman called Levi Seliga (Lewi Sunderland) in 1823. Levi was pottery trader and lived already in Warsaw for a while but came from Sunderland in England. When Stanisław Staszic wanted to open pottery factory in Iłża where there were natural supplies of clay, Levi took on the offer. He brought from England tools and eight speciallists to start the factory. One of those speciallists was Archibald Hunter. Archibald arrived in 1926 and never returned to England, got married soon after and started a family in Iłża. Archibald was Presbyterian, he converted to Catholicism before getting married to Agnieszka. Alternative name spelling from the documents: Racibel, Race Unter. Marriage witnesses: Mathias Potter and James Porter (worked at the same factory).
